Culture and Conference Centre Alte Mälzerei

DE- Mosbach

The "Alte Mälzerei", built in 1908 as an industrial building for the Hübner brewery, still shows the function of a malthouse in its ground plan. The building was used as a malthouse except during the war. In the 1960s, up to 4,000 tonnes of barley were still processed into malt annually. The brewery ended its use in 1983.

In the 1990s, the town hall was housed in the " Alte Mälzerei". In this context, the room structure of the "Alte Mälzerei" was changed. This included the installation of a stage, an auditorium and a foyer with glass facades. Since 1997, the "Alte Mälzerei" has served as a cultural and conference centre for the city of Mosbach. Just one year later, the "Alte Mälzerei" received a PALUX Topline.

In January 2021, the restaurant of the "Alte Mälzerei" was redesigned and combines tradition and modernity, art, culture and gastronomy. Since then, the restaurant with the converted utilisation concept has borne the name "Brasserie - Restaurant, Bar, Lounge".

"Brasserie" is a term borrowed from French gastronomic culture for a brewery with origins in the northern part of France and the Walloon part of Belgium. Brasseries usually offer home cooking in addition to serving beer. The kitchen team under chef Simon Seidel reinterprets the concept of home cooking in versatile upscale cuisine with influences of international dishes.

Since the opening of the "Brasserie - Restaurant, Bar, Lounge" of the Alte Mälzerei in July 2021, the "Alte Mälzerei" offers dishes in different price ranges and from classic to vegan in addition to the versatility of á la carte to multi-course menus. The menu changes seasonally. A speciality is the "Slowmeat", a beef fillet from free-range Iberian savannah cattle - more than organic!

The entire restaurant seats 131 guests indoors and outdoors. On any given day, 100 meals are served per day. In addition, the "Alte Mälzerei" offers conference and banquet business. The "sun terrace" with a view over Mosbach's old town offers relaxation and space for outdoor presentations.

As part of the renovation and realignment in the first half of 2021, the decision was made to convert the existing PALUX Topline and expand it to meet requirements. The kitchen - formerly a "cooking centre" - was redesigned as a post kitchen. The servery can now be served by saucier and entremetier. This task was assigned to PALUX AG. Thanks to the PALUX Topline appliance connections, a continuous worktop with an attached thermal bridge could be fitted without any problems. In the cold kitchen area, the open substructure was replaced by a saladette. A worktop was connected to extend this. Furthermore, the position of the thermal appliances was changed. Making all this possible shows the strength of the PALUX Topline product line. This product line thus ensures flexibility through perfect use of space and short walking distances. In terms of design and functionality, it offers the latest findings in technology, work ergonomics, hygiene and organisation. In addition, a seamless connection system and uses energy-saving techniques and thus short heating times.
